DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a service that runs at the application layer of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stack to dynamically assign IP addresses to DHCP clients, and to allocate TCP/IP configuration information to DHCP clients.
